WASH & IPC Consultant for EVD Preparedness (Kigali, 4.5 months)

About the role

UNICEF Rwanda is seeking an experienced WASH and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) consultant to support national preparedness and response to Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). The consultant will work closely with the Ministry of Health, Rwanda Biomedical Centre and other partners to strengthen WASH and IPC systems across health facilities and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to strengthen IPC protocols in health facilities.
• Scale up WASH services in high‑risk areas and support community‑based preparedness activities.
• Develop and deliver training materials for health workers and community volunteers.
• Coordinate with national and sub‑national agencies to ensure continuity of essential services during an outbreak.
• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of WASH and IPC interventions and produce actionable recommendations.

Required profile

• University degree (Bachelors or higher) in Public Health, Environmental Health, WASH, Engineering, Epidemiology or related field.
• Minimum eight years of experience in the WASH sector, preferably in public health emergencies such as Ebola or Marburg.
• Proven ability to work effectively in cross‑cultural and multi‑cultural teams.
• Strong communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda (spoken and written).
