Biobank Technician I – Sample Processing

About the role

The Biobank Technician I – Sample Processing supports the collection, receipt, processing, aliquoting, labeling, storage preparation and quality control of biological specimens from clinical trials and research studies. The role ensures specimens are handled according to approved SOPs, GCLP, GCP, biosafety requirements and biobank quality standards while collaborating with clinical and research teams.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process, label, aliquot, store, retrieve and prepare biological specimens for shipment following SOPs.
• Maintain accurate sample identification, tracking, chain‑of‑custody and inventory records.
• Conduct routine quality checks, document deviations and support CAPA, audits and continuous improvement.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, refrigerators, freezers and pipettes.
• Monitor laboratory supplies, report equipment issues and ensure biosafety and laboratory safety standards.
• Collaborate with clinical coordinators, investigators, data management and research partners to ensure specimen integrity and compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical/Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum two years of laboratory experience handling human biological specimens in research, clinical trials, hospitals or diagnostic laboratories.
• Knowledge of GCLP, GCP, biosafety and laboratory quality standards.
