Faculty Position in Pediatric Surgery

About the role

The University of Global Health Equity is seeking a Faculty member in Pediatric Surgery to support its mission of equitable, high-quality medical education and surgical care for children. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervise clinical care, and contribute to research and global surgery initiatives across the Butaro campus and affiliated sites in Rwanda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver curriculum, lectures, simulation sessions and bedside teaching for the MBBS/MGHD program.
• Supervise medical students and residents during pediatric surgical rotations, including assessments and operative competency evaluations.
• Participate in the implementation of COSECSA‑aligned competency‑based residency training and exam preparation.
• Mentor trainees in clinical practice, research projects and professional development.
• Collaborate with visiting faculty and partner hospitals to ensure consistent, high‑quality pediatric surgical education.
• Engage in clinical service delivery at Butaro Level II Teaching Hospital and other teaching sites.
• Contribute to research and global surgery initiatives focused on children’s surgical care.

Required profile

• Organised, collaborative, adaptable and passionate about improving access to safe pediatric surgery.
• Experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and supervise residents.
