Biobank Technician II – Data Management & Cold Chain

About the role

The Biobank Technician II – Data Management and Cold Chain ensures accurate biobank information systems, manages specimen inventory, and monitors storage conditions to guarantee uninterrupted cold‑chain operations. The role also supports clinical trial activities by maintaining sample accountability, preparing documentation for monitoring visits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain biobank and clinical trial sample databases, including inventory, location, processing, storage, transfers, and access history.
• Reconcile physical specimens with electronic records, resolve discrepancies, and generate inventory and accountability reports.
• Monitor −80°C freezers and liquid nitrogen systems, respond to temperature excursions, and keep detailed equipment maintenance logs.
• Support audits, monitoring visits, and regulatory inspections by providing accurate documentation.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, ethics, data‑protection policies, and quality requirements, including CAPA management.
• Collaborate with laboratory, clinical, data, and research teams throughout trial start‑up, monitoring, and close‑out phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Biomedical Sciences, Data Management, Biotechnology, IT, Life Sciences or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in biobank operations, laboratory data management, clinical research, or health information systems.
• Experience with databases, sample tracking, and electronic record keeping.
• Training in GCP, GCLP, biobank, data management or biosafety is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to data quality.
