Biobank Coordinator – Administrative & Research Operations

About the role

The Biobank Coordinator will support the Institute of Global Health Equity Research in managing biobank activities and clinical trial operations. Based in Kigali, the role combines administrative oversight, research coordination, and compliance monitoring to ensure high‑quality specimen handling and smooth trial execution.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily biobank operations: specimen collection, processing, storage, tracking, inventory management and documentation.
• Support clinical trial implementation: manage timelines, regulatory documentation, site coordination, monitoring visits, recruitment tracking and logistics.
• Organise research activities: develop work plans, schedule meetings, prepare reports, manage budgets, procurement and travel arrangements.
• Ensure compliance with GCP, ethics, institutional policies, data protection rules and biobank quality standards.
• Act as liaison among investigators, clinical teams, laboratory staff, sponsors, regulators and partner institutions.
• Assist with audits, accreditation processes and preparation of regulatory submissions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Health, Biomedical, Public Health, Clinical Research, Life Sciences or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• 3–5 years experience in clinical research, clinical trials, biobanking or research administration.
• Familiarity with ICH‑GCP, ethical and regulatory requirements, and biobank operations.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage confidential information and meet strict deadlines.
