Senior Software Development & Database Administration Engineer

About the role

Q-Sourcing is hiring a Senior Software Development & Database Administration Engineer in Kigali. The role supports existing systems, develops new solutions, manages databases, works with software consultants and helps the DSSU adopt modern technologies and AI-enabled digital solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, upgrade and modernize existing and new software applications.
• Analyze legacy systems built with different technologies and ensure their continued operation and modernization.
• Design, administer, secure, optimize, back up and recover organizational databases.
• Develop APIs and integrate existing systems with new applications.
• Design and implement secure, scalable and maintainable software solutions.
• Support data analytics, dashboards, automation and AI-enabled solutions.
• Apply software development, cybersecurity, testing, version control and deployment best practices.
• Review the technical work, source code, databases, documentation and deliverables of external software consultants.
• Transfer technical knowledge and system ownership to the organization after projects end.
• Advise management on software modernization, database management, AI, analytics and digital transformation.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports to the head of IT.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field; a Master's degree is an added advantage.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience, with 5+ years preferred, in software development, database administration or related areas.
• Experience working with both legacy and modern technologies and programming languages.
• Relevant certifications in software development, databases, cloud, cybersecurity, AI or data analytics are an added advantage.

Required skills

• Preferred languages: C#, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, C/C++, SQL (not restricted to one).
• Strong SQL and relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle.
• API development and system integration.
• Git, DevOps, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, backup/recovery and deployment.
• Data analytics, AI integration, automation and digital technologies.
