Digital Identity Lead – Frontier Technologies Foundations
Genesis Analytics · Kigali
Job description
About the role
Genesis Analytics is hiring a Digital Identity Lead for its Frontier Technologies Foundations practice in Kigali. This is a high-visibility, dual-engine role combining technical architecture with commercial origination: the anchor specialism is Digital Identity (DID), and the candidate will ultimately own the FT DID service line while contributing to Data at Societal Scale and Cybersecurity. The role relies on a global network within the World Bank, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the broader digital government ecosystem to originate projects, secure funding and scale the pipeline.
Key responsibilities
- Pipeline generation through the World Bank, BMGF, Co-Develop and regional development banks, and deal structuring and proposal leadership for donor-funded tenders
- Act as the main interface with the global identity, data and digital government communities, aligning firm capabilities with donor strategies and country roadmaps
- Lead the architectural design, governance and rollout of national digital ID systems, embedding ID4D, ID4Africa and MOSIP standards and advising on Decentralised Identity, Verifiable Credentials and self-sovereign identity
- Ensure identity frameworks interoperate with payments, data exchange and future national cybersecurity architecture
- Contribute to Data at Societal Scale (unique identifiers, civil registries, data governance) and Cybersecurity (PKI, cryptographic trust, Zero Trust) and keep the three foundations coherent under the GOAT framework
- Mentor consultants and analysts, and represent Genesis at ID4Africa, World Bank Digital Government and Spring Meetings events
Required profile
- 5+ years of hands-on, leading experience designing, engineering or rolling out a national digital identity system
- Deep familiarity with ID4D criteria, ID4Africa models and MOSIP
- Proven track record of originating and winning donor-financed technical assistance or consulting projects
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Public Policy, Economics or a related field
Required skills
- W3C DID standards, Decentralised Identifiers and cryptographic trust frameworks
- National data exchange design, data governance and interoperability
- Working knowledge of PKI, e-signature infrastructure, Zero Trust and ISO 27001/27701 and NIST CSF
- Familiarity with how AI, blockchain and big data intersect with identity, data and security in public-sector deployments
