Neonatal Nurse – Clinical Services

About the role

The Neonatal Nurse provides safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based care to newborns, including preterm and ill neonates, within a multidisciplinary maternal‑newborn health team in Burera District.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and evaluate individualized neonatal nursing care plans in collaboration with the health team.
• Conduct comprehensive neonatal assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond promptly to any deterioration.
• Assist with neonatal procedures, ensure aseptic technique, and manage thermoregulation, feeding support, infection prevention and respiratory monitoring.
• Educate mothers and families on newborn care, danger signs and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate documentation, participate in adverse event reporting and quality‑improvement initiatives, and support accreditation preparedness.
• Mentor new staff and students, lead in‑service training and contribute to continuous professional development.

Required profile

• Master of Science in Neonatal Nursing with a valid Rwandan nursing license.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in neonatal nursing, preferably in a teaching or referral hospital.
• Experience in clinical teaching, mentorship and supervision.
• Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda; French is an advantage.
