ICT for Development Intern

About the role

WaterAid Rwanda is looking for an ICT for Development (ICT4D) Intern to support the ICT department and ensure smooth financial and data processes across the country programme. This 40‑hour per week fixed‑term position offers a hands‑on experience in a non‑profit environment focused on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services.

Key responsibilities

• Enter approved financial transactions into the accounting system.
• Reconcile petty cash and staff advances.
• Assist with basic budget tracking and preparation of training materials for non‑finance staff.
• Draft schedules for statutory deductions and organise finance documents such as vouchers and payment records.
• Provide support during audits, including preparing files and retrieving documents.
• Learn and use finance systems, notably Sun Systems.
• Support stock counts and manage small cash balances.
• Review partner financial reports for completeness before submission.

Required profile

• Completed degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial management practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
