Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Intern

About the role

Join ContourGlobal’s growing team in Kibuye as an HSE Intern and gain hands‑on experience in health, safety, environmental and quality management within a power generation environment. Working under the guidance of the HSE Manager and HSE Officer, you will support the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s HSEQ Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the HSEQ Management System across the power plant and related facilities.
• Participate in routine HSE inspections of workshops, warehouses, offices and operational areas.
• Support hazard identification and conduct risk assessments (JSA/JHA).
• Monitor compliance with Permit‑to‑Work, Lockout/Tagout, confined space entry, working at height, lifting, hot work and electrical safety procedures.
• Carry out safety observations and report unsafe acts, conditions and near‑misses.
• Help collect data, perform root‑cause analysis and prepare reports for incident investigations.
• Assist with environmental monitoring, waste segregation, hazardous waste handling, spill prevention and emissions tracking.
• Check the proper use, inspection and availability of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Required profile

• Enthusiastic student willing to work under the guidance of senior HSE professionals.
• Interest in gaining practical experience in power generation, maintenance and contractor management.
