WASH Facilitator

About the role

The WASH Facilitator will lead water, sanitation and hygiene activities in refugee and transit/reception centres, ensuring that programmes are planned, funded and delivered on time and within budget. This role supports vulnerable children and families by improving hygiene standards and promoting cross‑cutting themes such as gender, protection and environmental sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Manage grant‑related functions, develop annual WASH work plans, allocate resources and monitor budget utilisation.
• Report on WASH activities, capture data for monitoring and evaluation, and document success stories and best practices.
• Participate in coordination meetings, build strategic partnerships with other WASH actors and strengthen field‑level networks.
• Identify WASH gaps in transit centres, design context‑appropriate guidelines, training manuals and promotional tools.
• Plan, facilitate and oversee emergency WASH interventions in line with Rwandan technical standards and UNHCR requirements.
• Monitor implementation, assess outcomes, propose corrective actions and provide training to beneficiaries.
• Integrate cross‑cutting themes such as environment, gender, protection, disability, peacebuilding and Christian commitment into all activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in emergency WASH programming and grant management.
• Ability to develop work plans, allocate budgets and produce high‑quality reports.
• Strong coordination skills and experience working with UN agencies, NGOs and local partners.
• Capacity to analyse community needs, design technical guidelines and deliver training.
