Staff Software Engineer, Healthcare

About the role

Zipline’s Nest Applications Software team builds the fulfillment, maintenance and flight systems that power automated drone delivery operations across Africa. As a Staff Software Engineer, Healthcare you will own critical decisions across these connected workflows, ensuring operators and customers have accurate information, orders move smoothly through fulfillment, and deliveries are coordinated reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end software for fulfillment, maintenance and flight workflows supporting Zipline operations in Africa.
• Partner with operations, supply‑chain, finance and customer‑facing teams to simplify workflows and solve high‑impact user problems.
• Lead backend and frontend delivery for major projects, from architecture and data modelling through implementation and production rollout.
• Design modular, distributed and event‑driven systems that can adapt as operational and business needs evolve.
• Build automated unit, integration and system tests that protect critical inventory, order and flight‑coordination processes.
• Improve production reliability, observability and robustness to enable rapid issue identification and sound operational decisions.

Required profile

• Proven ability to solve complex, real‑world problems at scale.
• Experience leading large‑scale software projects from concept to production.
• Comfort working in fast‑moving, high‑impact environments with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical mindset and willingness to tackle adversity.
