Full‑Time Computer Science Lecturer (PhD required)

About the role

The Institut d’Enseignement Supérieur de Ruhengeri (INES‑Ruhengeri) is seeking a full‑time lecturer for its Department of Computer Science. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise research projects, and help advance the university’s research and community‑service missions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials and labs while ensuring alignment with current research and pedagogical advances.
• Prepare and compile teaching materials, select textbooks and support teaching assistants.
• Review and advise on student research proposals and theses.
• Develop innovative course content and mobilize resources for research, outreach and internships.
• Conduct cutting‑edge research with students and publish findings in reputable journals.
• Provide advisory services for publishing student research and participate in faculty governance and community development initiatives.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Industrial IT, Networking or a closely related field from a recognized, accredited institution.
• Official equivalence certificate if the degree was obtained abroad.
• Demonstrated competence in software development, web and mobile application development, databases, data science, AI and machine learning.
• Proven research record with publications in national or international peer‑reviewed journals.
• At least three years of teaching, research or consultancy experience after completing the PhD (preferred).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork abilities, with a strong commitment to innovation and student‑centred learning.
