Seed Science & Technology Lead – Rwanda

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the Rwanda Institute of Crop and Agricultural (RICA) Seed Center’s science and training services. The role combines research, postgraduate teaching, and management to ensure more than one million farmers gain access to high‑quality seed.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the Seed Center’s scientific and technology roadmap, aligning with long‑term impact goals.
• Build and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering accountability and continuous learning.
• Oversee departmental planning, budgeting, and OKRs to ensure operational efficiency.
• Lead the design and delivery of a flagship postgraduate training program, managing curriculum relevance, student outcomes, and industry partnerships.
• Drive accreditation, regional positioning, and growth of the training program, securing partnerships and funding.
• Steer the technical roadmap for seed laboratory services, including quality testing, certification, and ISO/ISTA accreditation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in seed science, agricultural research, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to lead academic or professional training programs at the postgraduate level.
• Strong track record in managing multidisciplinary teams and budgets.
• Experience collaborating with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners.

Required skills

• Seed technology and laboratory testing.
• Knowledge of ISO and ISTA certification standards.
• Curriculum development for postgraduate programs.
