Safeguarding Officer

About the role

The Safeguarding Officer will lead child safeguarding across Rwanda offices, ensuring that all programmes are designed, implemented and monitored through a safeguarding lens. The role reports to the Internal Control & Compliance Manager and works closely with programme, HR, and security teams.

Key responsibilities

• Champion child safeguarding, identifying risks in project activities and planning mitigating measures.
• Advocate for safeguarding policies at national level and establish country safeguarding networks.
• Provide guidance, capacity building and coaching to field focal points and programme staff.
• Deliver mandatory core training workshops and ongoing refresher sessions.
• Monitor implementation of safeguarding policies, conduct reviews and ensure compliance action plans are executed.
• Support safety and security assessments, develop briefing materials and ensure incident reporting procedures are followed.
