Pool Attendant

About the role

Radisson Blu Kigali is looking for a pool attendant. The role covers pool safety, guest service and pool area upkeep, and also supports the gym when the pool is quiet. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Observe and patrol the pool, enforce safety regulations and assist swimmers in danger
• Greet guests, distribute towels, help with seating and deliver consistent guest service
• Know the pool dimensions, bar hours, emergency rescue procedures and hotel facilities to answer guest questions
• Take ownership of guest requests and complaints, resolving issues quickly and following up
• Report defects, hazards and maintenance issues to supervisors, the engineering department and the Spa & Leisure Manager
• Keep the pool deck clean, sweep it, water it, arrange furniture and collect soiled towels and trash
• Maintain pool safety programmes, trainings and documentation, and liaise with Security and the Executive Housekeeper on lost and found items and theft investigations
• Follow fire, emergency and bomb procedures and hotel health and safety rules
• Work with other departments, attend required meetings and training, and help colleagues with similar tasks

Required profile

• High school diploma minimum; a Diploma in Sports / Fitness / Hospitality is an added advantage
• 1-2 years as a pool attendant, lifeguard or fitness attendant in a 4 or 5-star hotel or high-end fitness club
• Physically fit and able to lead by example
• Able to understand and work within the country's culture

Required skills

• Valid Lifeguard certificate (RLSS, Ellis & Associates or equivalent)
• Valid First Aid, CPR & AED certificate
• Pool water treatment / pool plant operator certificate is an added advantage
• Basic knowledge of gym equipment and ability to give basic gym inductions (not personal training)
