Natural Resources Management Specialist

About the role

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rwanda seeks a Natural Resources Management Specialist to lead technical work on land and soil analysis. The incumbent will support climate‑resilient agricultural interventions and contribute to evidence‑based planning for funding mechanisms such as the Green Climate Fund and the Global Environment Facility.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct spatial analysis and land‑soil suitability assessments using geospatial tools.
• Promote sustainable landscape management and climate‑smart agrifood systems.
• Provide technical input for ecosystem‑based planning, targeting, and investment decisions.
• Support the preparation of proposals and reports for GCF, GEF and other donors.
• Collaborate with FAO technical officers, Better Leads, and headquarters units to ensure alignment with national strategies.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in natural resources, agriculture, environmental science or related field.
• Experience working on land, soil or landscape management projects, preferably in a development context.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the FAO Representative and Assistant Representative (Programme).
