Maintenance Officer – Farm Equipment & Facilities

About the role

The Maintenance Officer will be based on Avipro's poultry farms in Nyamata and will ensure that all farm equipment and facilities operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. This full‑time, on‑site position involves routine inspections, corrective repairs, and support for preventive maintenance programs across the company's integrated poultry operations.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and test farm machinery, electrical systems, and infrastructure daily.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out timely repairs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and update equipment performance records.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with farm teams to minimise production disruption.
• Support the development and implementation of preventive maintenance plans.
• Ensure compliance with safety and bio‑security standards at all times.

Required profile

• Practical experience in corrective maintenance of agricultural or industrial farm machinery.
• Knowledge of basic electricity and safe work practices on electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, maintenance schedules, and equipment specifications.
• Physical fitness to work in a farm environment, including occasional weekend or shift work.
• Technical certificate or diploma in mechanics, electrical maintenance, or a related field is an advantage; relevant work experience may substitute.
