Investment Manager - Private Equity Fund

About the role

Afreximbank's Fund for Export Development in Africa Investment Management (FIM) is looking for an Investment Manager in Kigali. The role leads the assessment of potential investments, oversees financial analysis, drives deal structuring and negotiation, manages due diligence and monitors portfolio performance, while working closely with cross-functional teams and guiding the drafting of concept papers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the investment team through all phases of the investment process and the fund's life cycle, including deal origination, evaluation, investment committee and board participation, portfolio company management, exits and fundraising.
• Conduct risk assessments and evaluate the merits of investments and greenfield projects.
• Lead financial analysis, modeling and valuation, and monitor the portfolio.
• Oversee deal structuring, prepare term sheets and investment memos, lead negotiations and coordinate deal execution meetings.
• Carry out in-depth due diligence on target companies, review due diligence advisors' deliverables and present findings to management and the investment and strategy committee.
• Evaluate portfolio company performance, track value-creation plans and ESG action plans, and prepare monthly and quarterly investment reports for governance bodies and investors.
• Stay informed on market trends, regulatory changes and economic factors, assist in fundraising and help create marketing materials.

Required profile

• Master's degree in finance, economics, banking, engineering, sciences or a related field with strong academic performance.
• Minimum 7 years of work experience; 5 years in investment banking, private equity or a similar financial role is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of financial analysis, valuation and investment principles, and of the legal and regulatory frameworks governing private equity investments.
• Excellent written and verbal English, adaptability to a fast-paced environment and teamwork.
