International Consultant for Blue Economy Toolkit Update & Marine Biotech ROI Analysis

About the role

This short‑term consultancy supports the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in updating the Blue Economy Valuation Toolkit assessment for Zanzibar and delivering a return‑on‑investment analysis for the marine biotechnology sector in Seychelles. The consultant will work remotely, with occasional travel to the field locations.

Key responsibilities

• Update the UNECA Blue Economy Valuation Toolkit assessment for Zanzibar, incorporating the latest ecological and economic data.
• Conduct a comprehensive ROI analysis for the marine biotechnology sector in Seychelles, including profitable business plan components.
• Prepare and deliver an updated assessment report for Zanzibar and an investment plan with ROI findings for Seychelles.
• Coordinate with UNECA stakeholders and local partners to ensure data accuracy and relevance.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in economics, environmental science, marine studies, or a related field.
• Proven experience in blue‑economy assessments, marine sector analysis, or similar consultancy projects.
• Ability to work independently, manage deliverables within a two‑month timeframe, and travel as required.
