Housekeeping Utility

About the role

The Housekeeping Utility is responsible for delivering high‑quality cleaning and cabin services aboard the vessel, ensuring public and crew areas meet strict hygiene and public‑health standards. Reporting to the Rooms Division Manager, Butler Manager and Head Utility, the role supports overall guest and crew satisfaction through meticulous housekeeping operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of assigned public and crew areas, including vacuuming, dusting, polishing, high‑dusting, garbage removal, sanitising, floor care, stripping and waxing, and brass polishing.
• Clean officer cabins and bathrooms to the highest standard and provide turn‑down service as required.
• Manage laundry and valet services for officer cabins within the assigned section.
• Record daily sanitation activities in the sanitation log and follow public‑health procedures.
• Assist teammates across housekeeping utilities and support special side‑duty assignments.
• Handle requisition collection, distribution, towel delivery, and gangway services, including wheelchair assistance.
• Store and manage cleaning chemicals safely, ensure proper handling of agents, and maintain equipment.
• Water plants, orchids and flower arrangements in public areas when assigned.
• Participate in embarkation and disembarkation duties, attend daily briefings, and adhere to outbreak response regulations.
• Maintain privacy, discretion, and courteous conduct when entering cabins, and provide luggage handling services.

Required profile

• Ability to work effectively in a team and follow detailed cleaning schedules.
• Strong attention to hygiene standards and public‑health regulations.
• Discretion and respect for crew and officer privacy.
• Good communication skills within the Rooms Division and other ship departments.
• Physical stamina for daily cleaning, lifting, and moving equipment.
• Willingness to attend briefings, follow outbreak protocols, and perform embarkation/disembarkation tasks.
