Head of Green Finance & Investment

About the role

The Head of Green Finance & Investment will lead the strategic mobilisation of capital to support Rwanda’s climate, restoration and green‑growth priorities. Based in the WRI Rwanda office, the role bridges government agendas, development finance and private investment to create investment‑ready opportunities for high‑impact projects.

Key responsibilities

• Translate national climate and restoration priorities into investment‑ready pipelines.
• Mobilise public, private and philanthropic capital for climate‑resilient and restoration initiatives.
• Develop and implement innovative financing mechanisms, building on programmes such as TerraFund and TerraMatch.
• Engage and coordinate with government agencies, development finance institutions, commercial investors, multilateral funds and NGOs.
• Provide strategic guidance to the Rwanda Country Platform and report to the CEF Program Director and Senior Director of Restoration Finance.
• Support policy development and capacity‑building activities for restoration champions.

Required profile

• Senior professional with proven experience in climate finance, green investment or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to structure and close large‑scale financing deals.
• Strong network across public, development and private finance sectors.
• Excellent strategic thinking and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Kigali and travel as needed.
