About the role
The Head of Cybersecurity (CISO) in Rwanda is responsible for defining and executing the subsidiary’s cybersecurity strategy, governance and operating model. The role safeguards the confidentiality, integrity and availability of customer data, banking systems and digital channels while supporting business growth.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a risk‑based cybersecurity strategy and roadmap aligned with the subsidiary’s business plan, risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Provide regular cyber risk reporting to executive management, the Board IT Committee and Group governance forums.
- Lead security monitoring, threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, digital forensics and cyber threat intelligence.
- Ensure compliance with National Bank of Rwanda regulations, data protection, privacy and National Cyber Security Authority directives.
- Manage the cybersecurity budget, resource plan and investment roadmap, demonstrating value and disciplined cost management.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Risk Management or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CCISO or ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer.
