Faculty – Psychiatry (Medical Education & Research)

About the role

The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) seeks a dedicated Faculty member in Psychiatry to strengthen its psychiatry programs across clinical clerkships, a new postgraduate residency, and mental health research. Based at the Butaro Campus with travel to Kigali and other sites, the role blends teaching, clinical supervision, and scholarly activity.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate bedside teaching, tutorials, simulations, and small‑group sessions for medical students and psychiatry residents.
• Develop and update course materials, including syllabi, learning objectives, assessments, and teaching resources.
• Support planning and delivery of the psychiatry clerkship and assist in establishing a psychiatry residency training program.
• Provide clinical services at affiliated hospitals and clinics while supervising learners.
• Contribute to mental‑health research, mentor research projects, and promote dissemination of findings.
• Collaborate with healthcare partners to enhance coordination of mental‑health services across Rwanda.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in psychiatry.
• Experience in clinical psychiatry and teaching medical students or residents.
• Engagement in mental‑health research and scholarly activities.
