Energy Efficiency Consultant (Electricity Generation and Distribution, Transport)

About the role

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is seeking an Energy Efficiency Consultant to support the development of Rwanda’s Energy Efficiency Strategy for 2026‑2036. The consultant will focus on electricity generation and distribution, transport, and building sectors, helping to build a robust baseline and conduct modelling that underpins the strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and validate comprehensive energy consumption and supply data for the electricity generation, distribution, transport, and building sectors.
• Support energy‑efficiency modelling activities to quantify potential GHG reductions and energy savings.
• Develop a baseline of sectoral energy use and supply efficiency.
• Assist in drafting the long‑term Energy Efficiency Strategy, including scenario analysis and policy recommendations.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Infrastructure, AFD, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with national targets.
• Prepare deliverables, reports, and presentations for project partners.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in Energy Engineering, Environmental Science, Economics or a related field.
• Proven experience in energy‑efficiency analysis for electricity generation, power distribution, transport, or building sectors.
• Familiarity with Rwanda’s energy landscape and GHG accounting methodologies.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with ability to work independently and deliver results on schedule.
