Director of Operations and Facilities

About the role

The Director of Operations and Facilities is a senior leadership position reporting to the Head of School, responsible for the systems, services and infrastructure that keep a safe, efficient and resilient campus running. The role covers facilities, campus operations, fleet and transportation, kitchen support services, risk management, procurement and operational planning, and drives continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Set the strategic vision for campus operations and facilities, advise the Head of School on operational risks and resource planning, and plan for campus sustainability and expansion
• Oversee facilities, utilities and physical assets, including maintenance, renovations, capital projects and contractor management
• Lead campus operations such as security, custodial services, grounds, utilities and event logistics, and emergency response planning
• Manage the school fleet and transportation, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Support kitchen facilities and auxiliary services, aligned with health, safety and sanitation standards
• Lead operational risk management, safety, compliance and business continuity
• Lead operational budgeting, forecasting, procurement and contract oversight, and contribute to capital planning
• Build and develop teams, set performance indicators and report to senior leadership

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Facilities Management, Business Administration or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, facilities, administration or institutional management
• Experience overseeing multiple operational functions, teams and complex service environments
• Experience managing budgets, vendors, contracts and capital or infrastructure projects
