Chief Finance Officer (CFO) – Rwanda

About the role

The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will provide strategic financial leadership for the organisation in Rwanda, overseeing all financial operations, planning, reporting and risk management. Reporting to the CEO and the Finance & Strategy Director of Britam Holdings Plc, the CFO will ensure financial sustainability, regulatory compliance and support profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory, regulatory and management reports in line with IFRS and internal frameworks.
• Lead strategy formulation, annual budgeting, business planning and forecasting, including variance analysis.
• Monitor cash flow, cost controls, profitability and advise on corrective actions.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, regulators and tax authorities; coordinate audits and inspections.
• Develop and enforce finance policies, procedures and internal controls to safeguard assets.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws and timely tax filings.
• Optimize investment of excess funds and manage banking relationships.
• Oversee financial risk management, audit issue resolution and internal controls.
• Maintain accurate general ledger, trial balance, receivables and credit policies.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, budgeting and reporting tools.
• Mentor and develop the finance team and provide financial updates to the CEO and Board.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Professional certification such as CPA (K), ACCA, CFA or equivalent; member of a recognized accounting institute.
• Extensive experience in financial planning, reporting, statutory compliance and audit coordination.
• Proven ability to lead finance functions in a regulated environment.
