Venture Analyst & Coach

About the role

The Venture Analyst & Coach will support the Student Ventures Program (SVP) at the African Leadership University. Working at the intersection of venture analysis and founder support, the role ensures that student‑led ventures are screened, coached, and monitored effectively to drive responsible growth and impact.

Key responsibilities

• Review and screen applications for SVP programs, including Ventures Lab, ScaleUp Lab, and thematic accelerators.
• Assess ventures using defined criteria, rubrics, and data‑room reviews, providing written recommendations.
• Identify inconsistencies, gaps, or risk indicators in venture submissions and founder claims.
• Provide hands‑on coaching to founders on venture development, traction, execution, and operational readiness.
• Assist founders in building and improving data rooms, financial models, traction plans, and pitch materials.
• Conduct structured progress reviews and milestone check‑ins with assigned ventures.
• Escalate risks, underperformance, or integrity concerns to senior SVP staff.

Required profile

• Experience in evaluating early‑stage ventures or startup projects.
• Proven ability to coach founders and support venture development.
• Strong analytical mindset with data‑driven decision‑making skills.
• Attention to detail for identifying risk indicators and inconsistencies.
