WASH Engineer – Short-Term Contract (Rwanda)

About the role

World Vision Rwanda is seeking a qualified WASH Engineer to supervise the construction of water, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure across health centres and schools in three districts. The role is short‑term, based in Kigali with frequent travel to project sites, and reports to the WASH Technical Design Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise contractors during construction and installation of water supply systems, sanitation blocks, waste management facilities, incinerators and hand‑washing stations.
• Ensure compliance with approved technical designs, BOQs, national building codes, MoH WASH standards and donor requirements.
• Perform water resources development studies, site investigations and design reviews.
• Prepare and review technical terms of reference, engineering drawings, feasibility studies, detailed designs, cost estimates and tender documents.
• Track progress, conduct quality assurance checks and maintain comprehensive documentation for all WASH infrastructure.

Required profile

• Rwandan national with a degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience supervising WASH construction projects in health or education settings.
• Strong understanding of national standards, World Vision QA/QC procedures and donor compliance.
