Safeguarding Manager (Rwanda)

About the role

Inkomoko is looking for an experienced Safeguarding Manager to lead protection efforts in Rwanda. The role is central to creating a culture of safety, dignity and well‑being for clients, staff and partners, and to ensuring that safeguarding standards meet international humanitarian best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Promote a culture of safety by embedding safeguarding into all organizational practices, decision‑making and performance metrics.
• Lead safeguarding awareness and capacity‑building activities for staff, partners and clients, covering the Code of Conduct, policies, reporting mechanisms and individual rights.
• Ensure safeguarding processes are transparent and clearly communicated to all stakeholders.
• Design, deliver and evaluate training on safeguarding issues across all Inkomoko program sites in Rwanda.
• Provide guidance and technical support to teams when safeguarding or protection concerns arise.
• Collaborate closely with security, HR and program teams to prevent, detect and respond to safeguarding incidents.
• Monitor compliance with safeguarding standards and report on performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safeguarding, protection or related roles within humanitarian or NGO settings.
• Strong knowledge of international safeguarding standards and best practices.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse staff, partners and vulnerable populations.
• Demonstrated leadership and excellent communication skills.
• Experience designing and delivering training programmes.
• Familiarity with the Rwandan context and legal framework is an advantage.
