Recovery Associate – Musanze, Kayonza & Gatsibo

About the role

The Recovery Associate will be based in Musanze, Kayonza or Gatsibo and will focus on identifying, following up and recovering defaulted loans for Inkomoko’s micro‑finance portfolio. The role involves regular site visits, coordination with local authorities and direct interaction with borrowers to resolve repayment issues.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the credit portfolio, assess risk of potential defaults and propose recovery solutions.
• Identify and flag repayment irregularities, escalating them for management action.
• Prepare monthly portfolio reports and weekly turnover updates for senior management.
• Analyse collection data to evaluate product performance and suggest corrective actions.
• Maintain a trigger reporting system for credit impairments and support loan officers on non‑performing loans.
• Contact borrowers by phone and in person, send reminders and conduct post‑disbursement spot checks to verify loan utilization.
• Track defaulter repayments to prevent recurring non‑compliance and maintain required PAR levels.

Required profile

• Experience in loan monitoring, credit risk assessment or related financial services.
• Ability to conduct field visits and liaise with local authorities.
• Strong analytical mindset for data‑driven reporting.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with borrowers and internal teams.
