Assistant Investment Manager – Strategic Initiatives & AfCFTA Fund

About the role

The Assistant Investment Manager will support the investment team in all phases of the investment lifecycle for FEDA’s strategic initiatives fund and the AfCFTA Adjustment Fund. This role focuses on high‑impact greenfield investments across critical sectors in Africa, requiring strong analytical and financial skills.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in deal origination, evaluation, investment committee preparation, and portfolio management for both funds.
• Conduct financial analysis, modeling, valuation, and due diligence on prospective investments and greenfield projects.
• Support deal structuring, term‑sheet preparation, and negotiation, and coordinate execution meetings.
• Develop and monitor value‑creation and ESG action plans for portfolio companies.
• Prepare regular investment performance reports for senior management and investors.
• Contribute to fundraising activities, including creation of marketing materials and participation in investor meetings.
• Support the operationalization, capital deployment, and governance of the AfCFTA Adjustment Fund.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or related field; MBA/MSc is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience, with at least 3 years in investment banking, private equity, or a similar financial role.
• Strong understanding of private‑equity investment principles, valuation methodologies, and legal/regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
