Project Officer

About the role

The Project Officer will support Raising The Village’s programmes in Rwanda, overseeing Project Assistants and ensuring that activities are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role is highly field‑based, requiring frequent travel to remote communities and close collaboration with local government officials.

Key responsibilities

• Align Project Assistants’ workplans with project designs and monitor implementation.
• Review field reporting, track progress against workplans and take corrective actions.
• Identify risks and propose mitigation measures to keep initiatives on track.
• Conduct at least three site visits per week to supervise activities and support assistants.
• Coordinate with sector‑ and cell‑level government officials to ensure alignment with partnership frameworks.
• Participate in project progress reviews and support senior officers as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in project management or field implementation.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with local government structures.
• Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80 % of the time) to remote rural areas.
• Strong results‑orientation and ability to solve problems independently.
