About the role
The Project Officer will support Raising The Village programmes in Rwanda, overseeing Project Assistants and ensuring implementation aligns with project designs and workplans. This field‑based role requires extensive travel to remote rural communities and close coordination with local government officials.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure Project Assistants’ workplans match project designs and monitor their implementation.
- Conduct at least three site visits per week to supervise activities and provide on‑the‑ground support.
- Identify risks, propose solutions and report issues to the Senior Project Officer.
- Coordinate with sector‑ and cell‑level government officials, delivering trainings and joint field visits.
- Facilitate weekly cluster meetings, provide coaching, and complete performance reviews for staff.
Required profile
- University degree in Community Development, Project Management, Development Studies or related field (Agriculture degree preferred).
- Minimum three years of experience in community development programmes, project management and coordination with local government at sector and cell levels.
- Ability to travel extensively (≈80% of time) and ride a motorbike with a valid Rwandan licence.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Motorbike riding competency.
