Managing Director, Services

About the role

OpenFn is seeking a Managing Director, Services to lead its Services organization. The role will shape how governments and NGOs adopt AI‑driven public‑service automation, overseeing a portfolio that includes project‑based implementations and subscription‑based expert‑day services. Reporting to the CEO, the director will work closely with product, growth and implementation leaders to transition the delivery model toward recurring revenue while ensuring high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Services leadership team, including hiring, performance management and career development.
• Maintain operating rhythms (OKRs, review cadences, portfolio check‑ins) focused on financial sustainability and delivery quality.
• Partner with Growth to accurately scope engagements, size expert‑day allocations and structure pricing that protects margins.
• Provide senior technical and delivery sign‑off during deal negotiations and advise on realistic delivery commitments.
• Act as trusted advisor to government ministries and NGOs on digital transformation and AI adoption strategy.
• Own delivery‑side financial accountability, monitoring gross margin, operating costs and SLA performance.
• Design and operationalize the shift from traditional consulting to a subscription‑centered delivery model.
• Represent OpenFn in high‑stakes client conversations, conferences and partner workshops.
