Head of Human Resources

About the role

The Head of Human Resources is the senior people leader for Ecobank Rwanda, reporting directly to the Managing Director and serving on the Executive Management team. The role translates business strategy into an integrated people, organisation and culture agenda while ensuring compliance with banking regulations and labour laws.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the country people strategy and annual HR priorities aligned with the bank’s business objectives and Group agenda.
• Advise the Managing Director, Executive Committee and senior leaders on workforce, leadership and people implications of business decisions.
• Lead strategic workforce planning, headcount governance, organisation design and role architecture to ensure the right capabilities and cost structure.
• Partner with Finance and business leaders on people budgeting, staff cost management and productivity analysis.
• Oversee succession planning, talent development and risk mitigation related to people matters.
• Ensure HR practices comply with applicable labour laws, banking regulations, internal policies and Group standards.
• Maintain effective engagement with internal and external assurance stakeholders and support Board governance.
• Coordinate with Regional and Group HR to align local initiatives with enterprise‑wide priorities.

Required profile

• Senior people leader with experience in a regulated banking environment.
• Member of executive management and trusted adviser to senior leadership.
• Strong governance, risk awareness and compliance orientation.
• Proven ability to translate business strategy into actionable workforce plans.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
