Head of Green Finance & Investment

About the role

The Head of Green Finance & Investment will lead the strategic development of Rwanda’s climate and green growth financing agenda. Based in the WRI Rwanda office, the role translates national priorities into investment‑ready projects and mobilises capital from public, private and development sources.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and package high‑impact climate and restoration initiatives as investment‑ready opportunities.
• Engage with government agencies, development finance institutions, commercial investors, philanthropic organisations and multilateral funds to secure financing.
• Design and implement innovative financing mechanisms, including blended finance and impact‑investment structures.
• Coordinate with WRI’s Climate, Economics & Finance program and the Restoration Finance team to align strategies.
• Provide technical support to restoration champions to ensure they are prepared to receive funding.

Required profile

• Proven experience in climate finance, green investment or related fields.
• Strong understanding of public‑private partnership models and development finance.
• Ability to work across government, donor and private‑sector stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
