Head of Compliance

About the role

Ecobank Rwanda is looking for a Head of Compliance to lead and strengthen the bank’s compliance function. The role ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards while fostering a culture of ethics, integrity, and risk management across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice on laws, regulations and international best practices to the Country Managing Director and ensure the bank’s compliance with all applicable requirements.
• Implement the Group Compliance Manual, adapt it to local risks, and maintain the Compliance Charter, Policy and Monitoring Plan.
• Advise business units on specific compliance matters and liaise with Group Compliance for best‑practice guidance.
• Lead an independent compliance function with direct escalation rights to senior management and relevant board committees.
• Monitor regulatory changes, conduct impact analyses and update policies and procedures accordingly.
• Participate in industry working groups, representing Ecobank’s views and interests.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead and strengthen a compliance function within a banking environment.
• Experience advising senior management on regulatory and legal matters.
• Strong understanding of local and international banking regulations.
