Field Officer - Rwanda

About the role

GiveDirectly delivers cash directly to people living in poverty and crisis, and the Field Officer plays a key day-to-day role in providing donors and recipients with its cash transfer product. The officer administers the recipient surveys and related processes that underpin the money transfer model, and brings quality judgment on operational issues, a strong work ethic, communication skills and a commitment to the mission.

Key responsibilities

• Census team: reach every household on the roster, complete census surveys on smartphones with accurate data, verify responses and tokens and track SIM card registration.
• Registration team: explain the program to eligible households, identify and exclude ineligible ones, and complete surveys on smartphones.
• Audit team: run surveys in cases of fraud or irregularities to decide whether a household should be enrolled.
• Follow-up team: conduct follow-up surveys with recipients who have received transfers, both remotely and on site, and report safeguarding, extortion, theft or fraud cases to management.

Required profile

• Degree in a relevant field.
• At least two years of experience working with vulnerable communities, preferably.
• Excellent communication skills in Kinyarwanda and English.
• Physical fitness and the ability to cope with difficult weather or terrain.
• Patience, good judgment in resolving recipient problems, empathy, honesty and integrity.
