Driver for Agricultural Cargo (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a driver to transport agricultural and non‑agricultural inputs between its sites in Kigali and surrounding districts. The role includes maintaining the vehicle fleet, ensuring cargo safety, and providing operational insights for future electric truck use.

Key responsibilities

• Transport inputs between assigned sites, meeting delivery timelines and verifying cargo quantity and quality.
• Load, unload and secure cargo, using appropriate equipment to prevent loss or damage.
• Conduct weekly vehicle checks, perform minor repairs, and submit maintenance requests.
• Maintain documentation such as Delivery Notes, Load Cards and Truck Management Sheets, and report any incidents promptly.
• Gather field site and charger location information and communicate trial data (GPS coordinates, battery levels, road conditions).

Required profile

• Valid Category C driver’s licence.
• Experience driving cargo trucks on dirt roads outside Kigali.
• Working knowledge of local roads, maps and GPS systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively in Kinyarwanda.
• Citizenship or permanent residency in Rwanda.

Required skills

• Electric vehicle mechanics knowledge (truck maintenance, battery range interpretation).
• Road safety regulations awareness.
