Director – Communications & Advocacy Consultant (Secondment)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Director to join a public‑health client in Kigali on a nine‑month secondment. The role is hybrid, with day‑to‑day work based in the client’s office, and requires a strategic communicator who can thrive in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement communications and advocacy strategies aligned with client objectives.
• Translate complex health concepts into clear, actionable content such as fact sheets, speeches, press releases, media toolkits, web articles and social‑media posts.
• Build and maintain media relationships, pitch stories, and secure coverage in regional and international outlets.
• Elevate client visibility through speaking engagements, panel appearances, and thought‑leadership pieces.
• Lead event management, including agenda setting, speaker selection, partner coordination and post‑event reporting.
• Monitor global health trends, media developments and regulatory changes that could affect client work.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience designing and delivering communications or advocacy projects.
• Strong understanding of global public‑health and development issues.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French is preferred.
• Advanced university degree.
