Chief Finance Officer (CFO) – Rwanda

About the role

The Chief Finance Officer will provide strategic financial leadership for the organisation in Rwanda, overseeing all financial operations, reporting, and risk management. Reporting to the CEO and the Finance & Strategy Director of Britam Holdings Plc, the CFO will ensure financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and support profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory, regulatory and management reports in line with IFRS and internal frameworks.
• Lead strategy formulation, annual budgeting, business planning and forecasting, including variance analysis.
• Monitor cash flow, cost controls, profitability and recommend corrective actions.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, regulators and tax authorities.
• Develop and enforce finance policies, internal controls and ensure accurate general ledger maintenance.
• Oversee tax compliance, timely filings and payments.
• Optimize investment of excess funds and manage banking relationships.
• Implement financial and operational risk management policies.
• Supervise receivables, credit policies and collection performance.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, budgeting and reporting tools.
• Mentor and develop finance team members and provide financial updates to the CEO and Board.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Professional certification such as CPA (K), ACCA or CFA is mandatory.
• Extensive experience in senior finance leadership, preferably within insurance or reinsurance.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax laws and regulatory requirements.
