Assistant Investment Manager – Strategic Initiatives & AfCFTA Fund

About the role

As an Assistant Investment Manager at FEDA, you will support the investment team throughout the full investment lifecycle, with a primary focus on the Strategic Initiatives & AfCFTA Adjustment Fund – a $250 million vehicle dedicated to high‑impact greenfield projects across critical sectors in Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the investment team in deal origination, evaluation, portfolio management, fundraising and exit planning.
• Assess risks, opportunities and investment merits of prospective projects and strategic initiatives.
• Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, financial modelling, valuation and portfolio monitoring.
• Support transaction structuring, including preparation of term sheets, investment memoranda and participation in negotiations.
• Coordinate deal‑execution meetings and track follow‑up actions.
• Perform due diligence on target companies, including management meetings, industry research, competitive analysis and financial performance assessment.
• Manage external due‑diligence advisors and review their deliverables.
• Present due‑diligence findings and investment recommendations to senior management and investment committees.
• Monitor market trends, regulatory developments and sector dynamics relevant to the fund’s strategy.
• Support the operationalisation, capital deployment, fundraising and governance of the AfCFTA Adjustment Fund.

Required profile

• Very strong analytical abilities with a solid understanding of private‑equity and greenfield investments in Africa.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with cross‑functional teams and external advisors.
