Agriculture Expert / Agribusiness Consultant

About the role

ISD Consulting seeks a part‑time Agriculture Expert / Agribusiness Consultant to support project development, market assessments, and advisory assignments for agriculture and agribusiness clients in Kigali. The consultant will work on evaluating market opportunities, reviewing proposed technologies, and preparing investment‑related documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct market assessments for agriculture and agribusiness projects.
• Review technical feasibility and commercial viability of proposed agricultural approaches, technologies, and business models.
• Advise clients on project concept structuring, production assumptions, value‑chain logic, and implementation risks.
• Support the preparation and review of business plans, investment proposals, funding applications, and related project documentation.
• Provide expert input on crop production, agribusiness operations, processing, supply chains, and market opportunities.
• Participate in client meetings and deliver practical recommendations based on sector knowledge and field experience.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience in agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural economics, or related fields.
• Good knowledge of the agriculture sector in Rwanda and/or East Africa.
• Experience in market assessment, feasibility studies, project development, business planning, or advisory work.
• Ability to assess whether proposed agricultural technologies, production models, or project approaches are realistic and commercially viable.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Kinyarwanda and/or French is an advantage.
