Program Manager – Lead Poisoning Prevention (Rwanda)

About the role

The Program Manager will lead Vital Strategies’ lead poisoning prevention efforts in Rwanda, providing epidemiological and programmatic support to strengthen health‑system capacity. The role involves designing, implementing and monitoring blood‑lead surveillance, and working closely with government officials and multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with environmental health scientists, epidemiologists, clinicians and statisticians to design and roll out the lead poisoning prevention program.
• Develop and standardize a surveillance framework, obtain ethical approvals and oversee field data collection.
• Train, supervise and monitor field surveillance teams and ensure quality of data.
• Organise technical discussions, journalist trainings and stakeholder workshops.
• Provide policy analysis support and facilitate training sessions for health officials, frontline workers and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in public‑health program management or epidemiological research.
• Proven ability to work with government agencies and high‑level officials.
• Strong capacity to train and mentor multidisciplinary teams.
