Director of Health Programs

About the role

The Alliance for Healthy Communities is seeking a seasoned Director of Health Programs to lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of health initiatives across sub‑Saharan Africa. Based in Kigali, this full‑time, field‑based position will drive strategic planning, partnership development, and program impact while aligning with AHC’s mission to strengthen health systems.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee program deliverables, technical reports, and statements of work.
• Represent AHC in meetings with government officials, donors, and partner agencies.
• Conduct regular field supervision across clinical sites and community locations.
• Support staff planning, recruitment, budgeting, and grant development.
• Lead comprehensive HIV/AIDS service delivery and community outreach targeting high‑risk populations.
• Develop treatment adherence tools aligned with UNAIDS 95‑95‑95 targets.
• Organize training on national HIV protocols and monitor clinical/programmatic indicators.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD) with current national licensure in good standing.
• Post‑graduate training in Public Health, Global Health, Infectious Diseases, or Health Program Management preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience treating HIV/AIDS patients or managing HIV/health programs.
• Strong research background to analyze health systems and inform evidence‑based decisions.
• Proven track record in grant writing and proposal development.
• Fluency in Kinyarwanda, English, and/or French.
• Experience working in global health or with NGOs.
