Financial Crime Compliance Manager

About the role

Ecobank Rwanda is looking for a Financial Crime Compliance Manager to design, implement and oversee the bank’s anti‑money laundering, counter‑terrorist financing and broader financial crime monitoring framework. The role ensures adherence to applicable laws, regulations and internal policies while protecting the bank from money laundering, fraud, sanctions breaches and other illicit activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain AML/CTF and financial crime prevention programs in line with regulatory requirements and international standards such as FATF.
• Ensure policies, procedures and controls cover money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, sanctions, bribery and related crimes.
• Conduct regular reviews of the compliance framework to incorporate regulatory changes and emerging risks.
• Respond to AML/CTF and due‑diligence inquiries from correspondent banks and international remittance partners.
• Oversee FATCA reporting and due‑diligence on related accounts.
• Monitor KYC documentation and account opening completeness.
• Manage customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring processes.
• Maintain transaction monitoring systems, review and approve suspicious activity reports before regulatory submission.
• Prepare and submit timely regulatory reports and act as primary liaison with regulators, financial intelligence units and law‑enforcement agencies.
• Support regulatory inspections, audits and coordinate responses to findings.
• Conduct enterprise‑wide AML and financial crime risk assessments, identify high‑risk customers, products, services and geographies, and recommend mitigating controls.
• Monitor key risk indicators and compliance metrics, including branch visitation as needed.
