WASH & IPC Consultant – EVD Preparedness and Response

About the role
UNICEF Rwanda is seeking an experienced consultant to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and partners in strengthening water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC) capacities for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) preparedness and response.
Key responsibilities
- Strengthen IPC practices in health facilities across national and sub‑national levels.
- Scale up WASH services to support outbreak prevention and response.
- Enhance community‑based preparedness and continuity of essential services.
- Provide technical guidance, develop guidelines and training materials, and support coordination with government agencies and partners.
Required profile
- University degree (Bachelors or higher) in Public Health, Environmental Health, WASH, Engineering, Epidemiology or a related field.
- At least eight years of experience in the WASH sector, preferably in public health emergencies such as Ebola or Marburg.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross‑cultural and multi‑cultural teams.
- Previous experience with UNICEF in similar assignments is highly desirable.
- Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda (spoken and written).
Required skills
- Technical expertise in WASH and IPC.
- Experience with outbreak response and public health emergency settings.
- Knowledge of national health systems and ability to develop practical guidelines.
