Truck Operator – Waste Management

About the role
The Truck Operator will support World Vision Rwanda’s mission to protect vulnerable children by managing waste and sanitation logistics in refugee camps. This role involves transporting solid waste, sewerage and dislodged latrines safely and efficiently across camp sites.
Key responsibilities
- Collect solid waste from designated points and transport it to the dumping site.
- Transport sewerage and other waste materials while ensuring the safety of refugees.
- Facilitate the dislodging and removal of latrines from villages and camp quarters.
- Maintain vehicle safety, cleanliness, and schedule regular maintenance and servicing.
- Complete daily vehicle checks, fill logbooks, and submit fuel and service requests on time.
- Adhere to World Vision’s child protection policy, code of conduct, and organizational values.
Required profile
- Advanced‑level certificate, preferably in mechanics or a related field.
- Category C driving licence with experience driving trucks up to 10 MT.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in waste‑transport or similar logistics roles.
- Knowledge of local road rules and travel routes in Rwanda.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); French and Kinyarwanda are a plus.
