Technical Expert on Climate Change & Health for MOH Reporting

About the role

The Technical Expert will design, operationalise and institutionalise a climate‑informed health intelligence and early‑warning system for Rwanda's Ministry of Health. This role supports evidence‑based decision‑making on climate‑sensitive diseases and strengthens health system resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a climate‑informed health intelligence platform for the Ministry of Health.
• Develop and operationalise early‑warning systems for climate‑related health risks.
• Provide technical advice and capacity‑building to government counterparts.
• Integrate climate and health data, conduct risk assessments and support public‑health preparedness planning.
• Collaborate with UN agencies, government officials and other stakeholders to ensure evidence‑based planning.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, environmental and climate science, epidemiology or health economics.
• Minimum eight years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in climate and health intelligence, early‑warning systems and decision‑support tools.
• Experience designing or managing projects on climate‑health data integration, risk assessment or public‑health preparedness.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and report‑writing abilities.
• Experience working in international or multicultural settings, preferably in Africa.
